Riding in an urban oasis
In this busy and noisy metropolis, there is a quiet place, which is located in the heart of the city, but seems to be isolated from the world, this is what the citizens call “urban oasis” - Central Park. Not only are there lush trees, crystal clear lakes, and winding bicycle paths, but it attracts countless life-loving people to enjoy a moment of peace and beauty. Among the many visitors, there is a special girl named Xiaoya, who has an unbreakable bond with the city, and it all started with a retro-styled urban leisure bike.
Xiaoya is a freelancer with flexible working hours, which gives her more time to explore every corner of the city. One day, she stopped in front of a vintage bike store and was attracted by a vintage bike in the window. The bike had a light lake blue body with a rattan basket and wide tires, and every detail revealed an aesthetic combination of classic and modern. Without hesitation, Xiaoya decided to bring it home, and from then on, her life had an additional color.
Every weekend morning, when the first rays of sunlight penetrated the clouds and sprinkled every corner of the city, Xiaoya would get on her favorite bike and follow the familiar route, shuttling between the streets of the city. Her destination was always the vibrant Central Park. Along the way, she would pass by the historic old neighborhoods, where the mottled walls and stone paths seemed to tell stories of the past; she would also pass by the bustling commercial district, where the occasional sound of busy footsteps among the skyscrapers gave a sense of the city's vitality and passion.
After arriving at the park, Xiaoya likes to find a quiet corner, gently lean her bike against a big tree, and then open the books she carries with her to enjoy a period of her own reading time. Sometimes, she even brings along her paintbrush and drawing board to record the beauty in front of her, whether it's the dewdrops glittering in the morning light or the branches swaying in the breeze, all of which are her source of inspiration.
Over time, Xiaoya realized that cycling is not just a way of traveling, but has become a way of life. It gives Xiaoya the opportunity to feel the temperature of the city in the closest way to nature. Whenever she was in a bad mood or encountered difficulties, she would choose to ride her bike and let the fresh air and beautiful scenery heal her wounds. Slowly, Xiaoya began to try to organize some small cycling activities, inviting like-minded friends to join together to share this simple and pure joy.
Through riding, Xiaoya has made many new friends from different industries with their own wonderful stories. They meet together because of their love for cycling and discuss how to make the city more livable, how to protect the environment and reduce pollution. Xiaoya also used her influence to launch a series of initiatives on social media about environmentally friendly traveling, encouraging more people to join the ranks of low-carbon life.
Nowadays, whenever someone asks Xiaoya what her happiest moment is, she always smiles and replies, “When I ride my vintage bicycle in the first rays of the morning sun through the quiet streets toward the vibrant Central Park.” For her, such a life is simple yet beautiful and full of endless possibilities.
Xiaoya's story is like a gentle poem about how a girl found a new way to connect with the world through a simple bicycle, and a reminder that in our fast-paced lives, it's good to slow down once in a while and be mindful of every beauty around us.
